CISCE REGIONAL KHO-KHO BOYS TOURNAMENT 2024

St. Joseph's School, Malakpet, has always encouraged its students to embrace sports as a vital part of their holistic development. The game of Kho-Kho, known for its emphasis on agility, speed, strategy, and teamwork, aligns perfectly with the school's vision of nurturing well-rounded individuals.

In line with this vision, St. Joseph's School, Malakpet, hosted the prestigious "Kho-Kho Tournament for Boys" as part of the CISCE Regional Sports and Games 2024 for the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions. The venue for this exciting event was St. Joseph's Public School, L.B. Nagar, which provided an ideal setting for a display of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among young athletes.

The two-day tournament, which began on the 15th of July, 2024, commenced with an impressive inaugural ceremony. The vibrant event saw participants parade with their school flags, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. Mrs. U. A. Sundari the Principal of St. Joseph's School, Malakpet, expressed her gratitude to all the participating schools and their coaches for their dedication to foster a spirit of healthy competition. She also highlighted the value of sports in building character and resilience among students.

The opening ceremony was graced by Mr. Y. Venkateshwar Rao, District Youth Sports Officer (DYSO) of Ranga Reddy District, and Administrator of GMC Balayogi Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Mr. Rao was felicitated with a bouquet and memento. The Chief Guest's inspiring words set the tone for the tournament, emphasising the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and a positive attitude in sports. Mrs. U. Teresa, Member of ASISC and Principal of St. Joseph’s School, Habsiguda, was also present.

The preliminary rounds saw fierce competition in three categories: Under 14, Under 17, and Under 19. A total of 44 teams participated, with 18 teams Under 14 category, 17 teams Under 17 category, and 9 teams in the Under 19 category. Each match showcased remarkable agility and strategic prowess, highlighting the high level of skill and determination among the participants.

TOURNAMENT OUTCOMES:

Under 14 Sub Junior Boys:

• FIRST PLACE (Gold) : Little Flower School, Guntur.

• SECOND PLACE (Silver) : St. Joseph's School, Malakpet.

• THIRD PLACE (Bronze) : St. Joseph's School, Habsiguda.

• FOURTH PLACE : St. Ann's School, Vijayawada.

Under 17 Junior Boys:

• FIRST PLACE (Gold) : St. Joseph's School, Habsiguda.

• SECOND PLACE (Silver) : St. Ann's School, Vijayawada.

• THIRD PLACE (Bronze) : Loyola Public School, Guntur.

• FOURTH PLACE : Sacred Heart Convent School, Uppal.

Under 19 Senior Boys:

• FIRST PLACE (Gold) : St. Joseph's School, Habsiguda.

• SECOND PLACE (Silver) : Johnson Grammar School, Mallapur.

• THIRD PLACE (Bronze) : Abhyasa International School, Toopran.

• FOURTH PLACE : Johnson Grammar School, Kuntloor.

Medals and certificates were awarded to the winning teams, while all participants received certificates of participation from the Principal Mrs. U. A. Sundari, who also acknowledged the support of everyone involved in making the event a success and expressed her hope that such events would continue to inspire students to pursue excellence both in sports and academics. As the CISCE flag was ceremonially lowered, the tournament concluded on a high note, leaving behind memories of a thrilling display of talent and the spirit of fair play.
