ASISC DECLAMATION COMPETITION 2025 FOR ZONAL LEVEL (ZONE 1)

REPORT OF THE EVENT

Johnson Grammar School, ICSE & ISC, Mallapur, had the honour of hosting the prestigious ASISC Inter-School Declamation Competition on 29th July 2025 at Zonal Level (Telangana Zone 1), which witnessed an impressive gathering of young orators from across the city. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony at 9:00 AM by our esteemed Principal, Ms. Srabanti Basu, along with other dignitaries and Judges, marking the beginning of a day filled with powerful speeches across Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior categories. In her inspiring address, the Principal commended the participants' dedication and encouraged them to express their thoughts with clarity and conviction.

Judges

The Cultural In charge introduced the Judges and announced the rules of the competition. The event was judged by a panel of experienced judges known for their expertise in literary events across Hyderabad. The Judges for the three categories are as follows:

Senior category: Col. Vijayan Janardhanan (Retd. Army) and Ms. Elvina Menezes (Retired English Teacher)
Junior category: Ms. Anitha Menon, Educator and Ms. Srilatha, English HOD – High School, St. Joseph’s School, Habsiguda.
Sub junior category: Ms. Y S M Lakshmi – English HOD Middle School, St. Joseph’s School, Habsiguda and Ms. Kavya Muralidharan, English Faculty - IB

Event Details

After the inauguration participants proceeded to the respective venues for the competition. Each category competed in separate venues, allowing for focused and engaging sessions. A total of 42 participants took part in the event. The no. of participants in the various categories and the venues are as follows:

Senior category: 9 participants – Board Room
Junior category: 17 participants – A V Room
Sub junior category: 16 participants - Auditorium

Participants were evaluated on the parameters specified by the ASISC. After a day of remarkable performances and intense competition, the event concluded with the announcement of results.

Winners: Sub Junior Category

First position: Raeya Tarun Lalan – St. Joseph’s Public School (AP015)
Second position: Asiya Kodan – Gitanjali Devshala (AP087)
Third position: Shiva Vijay Kumar Bhoyar – Gitanjali School (AP022)

Winners: Junior Category

First position: Jignya Gunreddy – Johnson Grammar School, Mallapur (AP018)
Second position: M Ganan Kumar - St. Joseph’s Public School (TS009)
Third position: Aarush Shankar - Johnson Grammar School, Kuntloor (TS004)

As the Judges sought clarification regarding the usage of translated speech in the competition, the Principal JGS Mallapur discussed the matter with the ASISC AP and Telangana region, Secretary and Treasurer, Mrs. U. A. Sundari. After the clarification the results were unanimously declared by the Judges for the category.

Winners: Senior Category

First position: Robert Angelina Rosevil - St. Ann’s High School (AP039)
Second position: Lingam Sai Sreedatta - Johnson Grammar School, Mallapur (AP018)
Third position: Mihika Saboo – The Hyderabad Public School (AP005)

The unprecedented situation in the Senior Level, where contestants Lingam Sai Sreedatta and Robert Angelina Rosevil were tied for the first position was decided by conducting a tie breaker round after taking due approval from Ms. Sundari, ASISC AP and Telangana region, Secretary. Both the participants were given time of 30 minutes to prepare a speech given by a personality of their choice. Demonstrating remarkable adaptability, they delivered impromptu speeches with exceptional skill, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

Conclusion

The competition concluded with the prize distribution and vote of thanks. The Judges for the competition were extended the heartfelt gratitude for having spared their valuable time in judging the competition. The results were announced beginning with the Sub junior, Junior and Senior category. The merit certificates were given to all the winners of the three categories and the participation certificates were given to all the remaining participants.

Refreshments were served following the sessions, providing participants and teachers an opportunity to interact. The event concluded on a high note, with everyone praising the seamless organization and inspiring atmosphere. We extend our heartiest congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding performances.

The ASISC Zonal Level Inter-School Declamation Competition 2025 thus concluded successfully at Johnson Grammar School, Mallapur with the National Anthem.
