CRICKET BOYS 2024

Report on the CISCE Regional Games and Sports –Cricket (Boys) 2024 Event

The CISCE Regional Games and Sports – Cricket (Boys) 2024 was organised across U/14, U/17, and U/19 categories from the 18th to the 21st of July, 2024. Hosted at the Babu Rao Sagar Grounds, Peerzadiguda, Hyderabad, also known as the Babu Rao Garden Cricket Stadium. The tournament saw active participation from ICSE and ISC schools across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. A total of 25 teams participated in the U/14 category, 30 teams in U/17, and 14 teams in the U/19 category. Participants were instructed to report by 7:30 a.m. on the first day, with matches commencing promptly at 8:00 a.m.

The tournament began on schedule, with matches conducted successfully over the first two days. However, due to adverse weather conditions, the matches scheduled for the 20th of July were cancelled. To ensure fairness and maintain the competitive spirit, a bowl-out method was proposed for the final day if the weather remained unfavourable. Despite the disruptions, breakfast and lunch were provided as scheduled to all participants and escorts.

Fortunately, the weather improved, and after further meetings and discussions the decision was taken to reschedule the remaining matches. They were scheduled to be played on the 27th and 28th of August. This adjustment allowed the tournament to continue, providing players with the opportunity to compete in full matches.

The tournament was a testament to the skill and sportsmanship of the young cricketers, who represented their schools with enthusiasm and dedication. St. Joseph’s School, Malakpet, acted as a gracious host under the leadership of Mrs. U. A. Sundari, the Secretary & Treasurer of ASISC A.P. & Telangana Region, and the Principal of St. Joseph’s School.

This event provided an excellent platform for young cricketers to demonstrate their abilities, contributing to their holistic development and regional exposure in the sport. The efforts of all schools, coaches, and referees were much appreciated, ensuring the tournament ran smoothly despite the challenges posed by the weather.
